| Sometimes I wonder why I don't really like many so called "mainstream" things. Why don't I really like dancing, clubbing, hip hop, rap, radio tunes, hype beasts, obey and many other things like those. For some reason, almost everytime I see these things or I am put right in the middle of them I just get incredibly annoyed to the point where I can't tolerate being near them at all. I mean I have tried real hard in the past to try to like them but alas they never work and the culture that really interests me and doesn't deter me from is something that a lot of people dislike and shun. I don't really understand why it's shunned because I really am not a bad person for liking it. Maybe it's where I live that's the main issue? Am I surrounded by too many "mainstream" people who seriously don't want to break away from the norm and give the stuff I actually like a try? This also brings me to my next point. Due to my immense dislike for lots of popular things it sometimes becomes a problem when I want to make friends because I sometimes have little or nothing to connect with a person with. I don't like dubstep and most house music and most rap or hip hop music annoys the crap out of me. I like some rap and hip hop but it's such a miniscule spectrum and such a specific and usually unknown genre of it that most people can't or don't really understand my taste. Additionally, I really really really dislike normal cliche relationship stuff. Most super romantic stuff makes me want to barf because of how cheesy and so generic? it is? Maybe I'm just rambling but what really set me off to write this blog was because I saw this youtube video and I got really mad and annoyed at nearly everything in this video. Why were they all predominately asian? why did they only use hip hop and rap in the video? why did they only embrace a specific type of "culture" if I could say? Don't lie, You know it only embraced one certain type of "culture" and I wonder why they only showcase them? ugh i don't know why i really get all this hot and bothered about all this mainstream crap. I have a strong feeling it's where I live because honestly I think if i moved out to the cities like beverly hills or manhattan, NY i would totally fit right in, but for now I will have to suck it up and work my way out of this stupid trap of walnut / riverside. I really really really do hope i can get out and my last chance to move out and make it on my own is when i apply to transfer this upcoming year. I know I don't have the best grades but I've been slowly working my GPA up. i got a 4.0 this past summer and hopefully if I get another 4.0 this fall the colleges will see my huge improvements and might consider me due to my hard work these past couple of quarters. |
